1. Prayers in Weakness, v.26
The Holy Spirit in us makes us groan/long for His will in our lives, and ultimately to be like Jesus/free from sin, and with Jesus.
We need to treasure and cultivate our relationship with the Holy Spirit, and to receive His help.
Are you aware of how the allurements of the flesh are assaulting you?
If sanctification is not a top priority, then our prayer during times of suffering will be for deliverance and blessing rather than for sanctification, than to know and become more like Him through the suffering.
We tend to want things more than relationship. Which is easier for you to do, to give God your to-do list, or to just be in His presence? What was easier for Martha?
2. Prayers Beyond Words, v.26
The Holy Spirit isn’t groaning, He is God — but He enters into our groaning.
Hebrews 4:15; Philippians 1:22-25
Many of those with Alzheimers will ask frequently throughout the day, “When are we going home?” This is the default desire of our hearts.
3. Prayers for the Will of God, v.27
May we all groan to be with Him more than anything.
May we follow the gifts back to the Giver.
